As the Strictly competition heats up all contestants went the extra mile to try and secure their place in the final.

But for Holly Valance it was a dress, as well as a dance, of passion, which gave her an extra edge.

The actress performed a Argentine Tango with partner Artem Chigvintsev wearing a slashed to the thigh red dress which earned high praise from the judges.

Bruno Tonioli told Holly she was 'beautiful, bad and dangerous' after her first dance with other judges praising the pair's ability tell the passionate story behind the dance.

Although Holly didn't earn top marks for her dance the former Neighbours star said she loved performing in the Latin style.

And with five couples being whittled down to three this week it was sequins at dawn as every celebrity was out to outdo the others, and that was just their outfits.

McFly drummer Harry Judd and Aliona Vilani literally kicked off the show with their first dance, scoring a huge 39 points with the Charleston.
And their second dance earned them a matching 39 points putting them top of the leader board with a classy Viennese Waltz to 'This Year's Love' to David Gray.
And Len Goodman told the boy band hunk he was definitely impressed with his moves.

Next it was Alex Jones and James Jordan who, despite a slight wardrobe malfunction with uneven fake tan won the judges praise with her version of a Waltz to 'You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman' by Aretha Franklin, scooping her a 36.
The judges told her she was credit to the competition with Alesha telling her she 'definitely deserved a place in the semi final.'
And for her second dance the presenter impressed with a saucy salsa dance which included a mini strip tease.
Bruno said: 'It was lovely to see you dance. You respond to a man very well. When you are on your own you get lost in the moment. If you make it to Blackpool you have to feel sure of yourself because you have got it.'

Len said: 'It was full of personality, I was watching your hips go, I was like 'Hip Hip Horay' This is your chance to get into the final. because you were attacking the dance so much it lost a bit of finesses.

Alesha added: 'You came out and went for it. Alex be proud and smile, you did a great job.'

Waterloo Road actress Chelsee Healey admitted she has had a fairytale experience since starting Strictly.

For her first dance Chelsee Healey and partner Pasha Kovalev did the American Smooth to the slow 'Time After Time'.

While certain judges praised her for her 'exquisite arms' others left Chelsee with a rugged exit after her first dance calling her lift 'ugly'.

But it was veteran judge Len who told her: 'It was like the Chelsea Flower Show, full of colour. Wonderful.'

And Alesha told the tiny star: 'You are performing like a true dancer. I am a little bit speechless, you don't realise how good you are you deserve to be in the final.

As the second dance earned her the first 40 in the competition Chelsee said: 'I am speechless, I can't thank Pasha enough, it's amazing.'

For fellow actress Holly Valance and her partner Artem Chigvintsev heated up the dance floor with their Argentine Tango to 'Por Una Cabeza'.

But for their second dance it was the Charleston turned on its head to 'We No Speak Americano'.

And the judges gave a mixed reaction.

Alesha told the Australian singer and actress: 'It was a modern take on the Charleston and I loved it. It is a real fight to the end at this point.'

Bruno added: I have to praise you for taking the risk, I thought the concept was brilliant, OK there were a few moments of hesitation here and there but its great to see people do new things.'

Leader board
Leader board: After two dances Harry is still in the lead but Jason's top score has pushed him to third place

Fellow Australian actor Jason Donovan was not so successful with his first dance, the Samba, being told by Craig his moves were like daddy dancing.

But Len said the star should be proud of his special bottom wiggle. He said: 'I was thinking "Go on my son!'

His second dance couldn't have been more different with the dramatic Tango.

Alesha told him: 'You owned that dance.'

Bruno said: 'It was like watching death by Christina. It was like a fight to the death. You won.

Craig said: 'I would put that woman on an assault charge. You were incredible.

Len told the smiling actor: 'If you are going to do the best dance of the series I can't see any more better time than the semi final.'

And Jason scooped the second top score of the night with all four judges giving him a 10.
