The Saturdays singer Una Healy has excitedly announced she is having a baby girl.

The Irish pop star, 30, and her rugby player boyfriend Ben Foden, 26, found out the sex of their unborn child at her 20-week scan last week.

And for the pretty redhead, she said the news if rather fitting because she's always been surrounded by so many girls growing up.

She tells Hello! magazine: 'I come from a family of girls, I went to an all-girls school and I'm in a girl band, so I guess it's fitting that I'm having a daughter.'

Having recently returned from England's ill-fated World Cup tour in New Zealand, the news has certainly proved a welcome distraction for Foden.

He enthused: 'I am delighted.'

And even though The Saturdays' All Fired Up tour is scheduled to start next month, Healy is determined her pregnancy won't slow her down.

She said: 'I've been quite surprised that people have said, "How will you do this tour?" Naturally I'll be careful and I'd never do anything that would put our baby at risk. But I'm pregnant, not ill.

'Loads of women continue to work through their pregnancies and this is my job, so why wouldn't I carry on doing what I love - especially when I feel so well.'

But Healy admitted she is switching her heels for flats after a scary fall a few weeks ago.

The couple, who have been dating for over three years, admitted her pregnancy was a pleasant surprise.

Foden explains: 'We weren't trying for a baby.

'But we'd talked about starting a family and we're in a loving and committed relationship, so it wasn't a massive shock. I was over the moon. I plan on spending the rest of my life with Una.'

Having just discovered her pregnancy when they attended Foden's teammate Mike Tindall's wedding to royal Zara Phillips in July, Healy pretended she was ill to avoid alcohol.

She said: 'I felt awful about that.'

Healy and Foden started dating in 2008 when his agent approached her on the rugby player's behalf.

She said in 2009: 'Ben's agent got in touch with my agent who then sent me an email asking if I'd like to meet with him.

‘I really thought it was some kind of joke. It certainly wasn't the way I expected to meet a guy.
