It may have seemed like the end of their X Factor dream at the time, but now the first four contestants who were voted off the show have been given a second chance.
James Michael, Amelia Lily, Jonjo Kerr and Essex group 2 Shoes have never faced the public vote before - but they will now.
Following Frankie Cocozza's departure from the show this week, the four acts have the chance to win a place back on the show if the public decide to pick up their phones.
Second chance for 2 Shoes: The Essex duo could be returning to the stage to perform this weekend due to Frankie Cocozza's departure
'The four acts have never been in a public vote so, with Frankie leaving the competition, this is an opportunity for the public to decide who comes back to the show,' said an X Factor spokesman today.
The act with the most votes will re-enter The X Factor and perform live on this Saturday's show alongside the six remaining acts in the competition.
Shock exit: Viewers were stunned when judge Kelly Rowland chose to send Amelia-Lily home in week one of the X Factor
This week's live show will see the hopefuls perform either a Queen classic or a Lady Gaga hit as they try to impress the judges once again.
No doubt mentor to the groups Tulisa Contostavlos and Irishman Louis Walsh will be willing their previous hopefuls to return as they only have one act left in the competition each.
Gutted to go: Jonjo Kerr was heartbroken when Louis chose to leave him out of the competition
Gary Barlow is now left with two acts after rockstar wannabe, Frankie, was booted off the show due to breaking 'golden rules'.
The big-haired bad boy was overheard by production staff boasting about cocaine-fuelled sex sessions and admitted his life had gotten 'out of control' after appearing on the ITV1 reality show.
I'll be back: James Michael may be playing his guitar on stage sooner than he thought if the public decides to vote for him
But his departure now means that the four acts who had their dreams shattered in week one could be given a precious second chance.
ITV will confirm voting details tomorrow and viewers will find out who returns to the stage at 8.15pm on Saturday night.
