So if people exist who have the genius to design cars this awesome, why is everything on the market so damn boring?
See-Through Apple iPhone
Chances are the big iPhone 5 redesign won't be see-through, like this iPhone concept by Robert Davis. Despite the fact that we would smudge it beyond recognition with our ample face grease, this is something I could get down with big-time.
The concept we are referring to is the cloud sofa, but the concept of this lady reclining lustily on our furniture is one we wish even harder would come true. Since this levitating couch is more likely, let's talk about that. The design of D.K. Wei, the cloud sofa uses magnetic repulsion to keep the couch floating high above the base.
While I'm a sucker for all imaginary spaceships, this design is ultra-rad. Mathias Koehler came up with the X-61 Bullard, which is way cooler than the vast majority of futuristic flying craft seen in sci-fi shows and space marine games. Plus, it's named after the first black combat pilot (his name was Bullard, not X-61).
To be fair, the USBee is not very attractive, which is why it'll never be made. But it is functional. How many times have you bent your flash drive or the your computer's USB port by accidentally kicking it or elbowing it? Oh, that's just me? Well, the elastic USBee would at least keep my computer safe from its user.
The guy who designed this won first prize in an Italian art competition, and for damn good reason. The Audi Shark is hands-down the coolest futuristic vehicle I have ever seen, trumping the Lexuses from Minority Report with ease. How 'bout it, Audi? Stop making sedans for d-bags and put all of your money into making this, okay?
Nissan Terranaut
If the Audi Shark has the coolest looking exterior, the Nissan Terranaut has the coolest looking interior. Inspired by the U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek, it features a "spherical laboratory" that can be fully accessed by the 360 degree swiveling chair.
Despite its bizarro appearance, the concept Dell XCS would actually be really useful. The snap-on parts would let us customize our computers' hardware without opening them up, because even though we could probably learn how to do it, that would just be too damn nerdy.
If you're like me, you're always on the way out the door when you realize you have no clean socks/shirts/pants. Without time to wait for the washer and dryer to clean your single item, you're pretty screwed. The hand-operated, portable Laundry Pod could rectify that, though. Throw in your pair of dirty undies, fill it with water and soap, and give it a pump. It even damp dries after wash, though slightly damp underwear is the worst feeling in the whole world. Obviously, I haven't had a very difficult life.
Moy Concept Car
Tired of your beige Corolla? Yeah, I'm tired of your beige Corolla too. If you had the Moy concept car, though, you could design your car's exterior on your computer and transfer it wirelessly to the vehicle. Blam, new car look every day. Maybe this could finally give those bums in the crappy part of town a convincing Mustang kit for their rusty-ass Pontiac?
PathQuest, the steampunk GPS, would fulfill your desire to be an old-timey Victorian cartographer while providing you with valuable street directions. The pocket-sized companion (that gray thing is just the base) uses e-ink to save batteries and relies on Google maps to give directions.
So come on, Mayor Bloomies, why won't you get these sweet industrial bike racks for your precious city? Surely their slick design beats whatever you've got going on. I wouldn't know; I'm too scared of being hit by a merciless dumpling food truck to hit New York on two wheels.
