Scarlett Johansson takes walk on the mild side in elegant black dress at We Bought A Zoo premiere

A racy animal print number would have perhaps been an altogether too obvious choice of attire.

As such, a walk on the wild side was not on the menu for Scarlett Johansson tonight as attended the New York premiere of her movie, We Bought A Zoo, in a classic black dress.

The below-the-knee ensemble kept the 27-year-old star's legs mostly under wraps - although she did give the smallest flash of her stomach and décolletage in the sleeveless, cutaway number.

Scarlett looked stunning as she arrived to the Ziegfeld Theatre with her hair worn in an updo and completing her look with a pair of peep-toe heels.

Earlier in the day, the actress - who is divorced from actor Ryan Reynolds, was out in the Big Apple to promote the film.

Appearing on the Today show Johansson talked to host Matt Lauer about her difficult year.

Scarlett said her divorce from Reynolds and the leaking of private nude photographs across the internet - after a hacker cracked into her cell phone - had taught her a lot.

'I've been really fortunate. I've found that I had, even in times of crisis, a lot of love around me, and people have come out of all different dark corners to support me,' she said.

'That's been a really beautiful thing. And I think I've also learned to be much more tolerant and much more patient.'

Scarlett also told Lauer that keeping busy working on films had proved to be just what she needed.

'There's a community on film sets and in this industry. It would seem kind of cut-throat, but for me, I've been in the industry for 20 years and it has that familial kind of feel,' the Lost In Translation star explained.

'When I'm working I can't focus on anything but the job at hand, and I think that's some kind of therapy.'

Johansson stars in comedy-drama We Bought a Zoo alongside Matt Damon, Thomas Haden Church, Colin Ford, Desi Lydic, Patrick Fugit, and Elle Fanning.

The Cameron Crowe-directed movie is based on the memoir by Benjamin Mee, which chronicles how the author and his family spent their life savings to buy Dartmoor Zoological Park - a rundown zoo in the English countryside which homed 200 exotic animals facing extinction.

While it takes inspiration from the British story, the movie is set in Southern California.

It is set for release on December 23 in U.S. and March 16 in the UK.

Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Madonna are a just some of the leading ladies that have starred in Dolce & Gabanna campaigns.

But taking a different tactic the Italian luxury brand has employed a little-known actress from Birmingham to front its latest collection.

Sporting a porcelain complexion and chestnut locks, 28-year-old Felicity Jones first made a name for herself in the Nineties children's drama The Worst Witch as Ethel Hallow.

But over recent years she has appeared in a number of Hollywood features working with the likes of Maggie Gyllenhaal,Rupert Everett and Guy Pearce and she has been likened to English roses Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan.
D&G designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana announced that the rising star will appear in a string of stylish ads promoting a new makeup collection, set to launch next January.

They described Jones as 'representing a heady mix of sensuality, confidence and beauty.'

'Classically beautiful yet modern in attitude, her audacious gaze is impossible to ignore.'

Jones has regularly been spotted wearing D&G designs on the red carpet and she appeared front row at their spring / summer 2012 show in Milan sporting a cream and black lace print cocktail dress, alongside fellow D&G ambassador, Scarlett Johansson.

No images have been released but it is said that they portray the edgy Brit as 'an aristocratic, savage girl'.

A spokesperson for the brand said it has not been confirmed if Felicity will replace or join Scarlett Johansson to promote the D&G make-up collection

Modelling is not a new venture for Jones and she has been snapped by Mario Testino for British brand Burberry and appeared on the cover of Tatler's March 2011 edition with Gossip Girl star and Chalet Girl co-star Ed Westwick.

A spokesperson for the brand said it has not been confirmed if Felicity will replace or join Scarlett Johansson to promote the makeup collection which premiered at Selfridges in 2009.

Currently prices range from £17 for nail varnish to £27 for a lipstick.

Jones will appear on advertisements for the D&G the Khol Collection in the new year.

Brunette Scarlett Johansson unleashes her dark side in smouldering shoot

Brunette Scarlett Johansson unleashes her dark side in smouldering shoot... but what's happened to her famous curves?

By Amelia Proud

It's amazing to think that Scarlett Johansson only turned 27 yesterday, such is the scope of her achievement and iconic imagery at such a tender age.

To celebrate the birthday, our chameleonic bombshell has appeared in yet another jaw-droppingly sexy image but this time, she's unleashed her dark side.

Scarlett can be seen on the December issue of Interview magazine with slicked back chestnut locks, smoky eyes and clothed in an ultra revealing cut-out playsuit.

It's vintage in style, with embellished pins tantalisingly holding brace-like straps in place to prevent the outfit from becoming a two-piece underwear set.

It's a striking image, and the beauty, who has been linked to Kate Moss's ex Jefferson Hack, 40 , looks ready to for business with in the cool ensemble.

But something is amiss, the starlet's trademark voluptuous curves seem to have been slimmed away to create a more boyish silhouette than Scarlett normally displays.

The actress has been hard at work with physical stunts on the set of multi-hero action flick, The Avengers, so perhaps that's why her body looks more athletic.

In the interview that accompanies the image, Scarlett is keen to talk about giving something back to the world .

The actress has teamed up with Neff to create a beanie hat for Neff Hope, a project to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

Johansson explained: 'I helped create this Neff Beanie with the hope that every purchase might make a cancer patient feel a bit more comfortable during his/her treatments and look cool and be cozy all the while.

The beanies are eco friendly too, so they’re as nice to the earth as they are to the person wearing them.'

And despite possessing the kind of ravishing good looks that demand to be in front of a camera, Scarlett is looking forward to her first directorial offering.

According to Entertainment Weekly, she will take on an adaptation of the 1940s novel Summer Crossing by Truman Capote, which tells the story of a 17-year-old debutante who decides to ditch her high-class family's trip to France over the summer and instead falls in love with a Jewish parking attendant whom she later marries, leaving her stuck with the culture divide between her family and his.

But never fear, Scarlett will soon be seen opposite Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo and the highly anticipated Avengers alongside Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey Jr.

The Hottest Actresses Of 2011

The actresses of 2011 are on a mission to make this year the hottest ever. I can't tell if it's summertime making me hot or these lovely ladies.

Mila Kunis - Friends With Benefits

It seems like you can’t flip a channel these days without hearing Mila Kunis’ name. She’s everywhere, smiling and radiant, from magazine covers to number two on Askmen’s Top 99 Women of 2011. If you happen to take a girl on date this summer and it’s to see Friends with Benefits, we won’t judge you. Because we’ll be doing the same exact thing.
Blake lively - Green Lantern

It’s been quite a year for young Ms. Lively. Her cellphone photos notwithstanding, Blake’s worked her way into a major summer blockbuster in Green Lantern. She may be on the one hottest women in Hollywood right now and certainly atop the A-list of actresses. We could write a whole bunch on her but let’s be honest; you’re here to soak in her beauty. Just Askmen, they ranked her number one for 2011.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley - Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Rosie Hunington-Whiteley started off as one of the hottest women in the world anyway. Now she’s one of the hottest actresses of 2011 thanks to Megan Fox early departure from the Transformer’s franchise. In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Rosie is the human equivalent of the all-spark, breathing life into Michael Bay’s robots-gone-wild explodeathon.

Emma Stone - The Amazing Spider-Man

You loved her in Superbad, you probably won’t see Crazy, Stupid, Love and, if you have a girlfriend, you might see Friends With Benefits. So why care about Emma Stone Simple, she’s Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man. Fanboys around the world are squealing in glee for good reason. She’s a knockout redhead, with a playfully naughty side and one of 2011’s hottest actresses.
Natalie Portman - Your Highness

Perhaps the most recognizable scene in 2011 is Natalie Portman's behind in Your Highness. Pregnancy be damned. It’s one of the hottest scenes in 2011 and she’s still one of the hottest women working in Hollywood today. It doesn’t hurt that she’s in Thor, playing a ditzy, brilliant and entirely too trusting astro-physicist who falls for the hammer-wielding God of Thunder.
Jennifer Lawrence - X-Men: First Class

Remember Winter’s Bone? The movie about back country Ozark family held together by an intrepid young girl? That’s what we thought. Jennifer Lawrence was so under the radar in 2010, she could have landed in a walled compound in Abbottabad. That is, until a photo shoot in Esquire changed everything. The collective thud you heard was the jaws of men everywhere. In 2011, she stars as the shape-shifting Mystique in X-Men: First Class, and we’re hoping there are plenty of similar roles for her in the future.
Abbie Cornish - Sucker Punch

If you didn’t know Abbie Cornish before 2011, you definitely know her now. Sucker Punch put her on the walls of dorm rooms and desktops everywhere. In Limitless, she plays Lindy, stealing Bradley Cooper’s heart and making ours stop. Plain and simple, Cornish is hot.
Olivia Wilde - Cowboys & Aliens

Number thirty on Askmen’s Top 99 Women of 2011, Olivia Wilde, continues to bewitch audiences. She’s staring in John Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens, fulfilling the dusty fantasies of sci-fi and western fans everywhere. The bewitching brunette made men everywhere want to climb into a computer and ride a light cycle.
Emma Watson - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

As Hermoine, Emma Watson, stole the hearts of people around the world. The final installment of Harry Potter is due to hit theaters this week and Watson is ready to be one of the hottest actresses of 2011. The English born isn’t wasting any time breaking about from her magical roots. She’s due to star as Lucy in My Week with Marilyn later in the year alongside the likes of Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judy Dench.
Scarlett Johansson - The Avengers

Is there a year that Scarlet Johansson doesn’t qualify for a list like this? She’s one of the hottest actresses of the past decade and plays a range of roles. She’s a woman for all tastes and seasons. We’re hoping she makes an appearance at Comic-Con this year and dishes some dirt on the production of The Avengers. In her costume. Which is leather and super tight. Hmmmm.

Minka Kelly - The Roommate

Did you see the Roommate? Because you really, really should rent it from On-Demand. When you’re alone and ready to indulge in some seriously hot... um... drama. Trust us. Minka Kelly set to star in the upcoming TV reboot of Charlie’s Angels and her boyfriend, Derek Jeter, isn’t having that bad of a year either.

The Sexiest New Yorkers

They say that the only real New Yorker is one that was born there, so we've assembled this awesome collection of the most gorgeous women to be born in the heart of the Empire State.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarly Jo is a true New Yorker - her mother is an Ashkenazi Jew from the Bronx and her father is a Danish architect, perfectly capturing the melting-pot aesthetic of Gotham City. She grew up with very little money and first started pursuing acting at the legendary Professional Children's School in the city - the institution that has launched careers from Elliot Gould to Macaulay Culkin. She now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York, where she was recently seen canoodling with Justin Timberlake.

Alicia Keys

During the early 80s, when Alicia Keys was growing up there, the neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen was a rough and tumble place. Before the Disneyfication of Times Square and the surrounding areas, it was one of the meanest neighborhoods in Manhattan. Keys, born Alicia Cook, got her first break at the age of four playing a sleepover guest on The Cosby Show. She went on to attend the Professional Performing Arts school, graduate at sixteen and launch a massively successful music career.
Christina Aguilera

When we think about the boroughs of New York, Staten Island always seems to be in last place. Perhaps that's because it's so far away from the hubbub of Manhattan, or maybe because it's kind of desolate and creepy. One thing that the former Richmond has going for it is the pipes of its favorite daughter, former Mouseketeer Christina Aguilera. The family moved to a small town in Pennsylvania after she was born, but she's a New Yorker at heart.
Claire Danes

My So-Called Life showing up on Netflix Instant made us rekindle our 90s crushes on Claire Danes. Unlike some of the other ladies on this list who clawed their way up from humble beginnings, Danes had it a little easier - her grandfather was the Dean of art and architecture at Yale. She attended the ritzy Dalton School as well as a number of other institutions before moving to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career.

Rosario Dawson

Rosario Dawson's girlhood is a true New York story - her mother never married her father, and when the actress was just eight years old they moved into an abandoned building in the Lower East Side to live as squatters, repairing the decimated apartment into a habitable domicile. She was discovered on her front porch by Larry Clark and Harmony Korine and cast in Kids, and it's been all good news from there.
Anne Hathaway

Brooklyn-born Anne Hathaway represents the hippest of the boroughs with pride, despite moving to New Jersey when she turned six. The Garden State wasn't enough to contain such a hottie, and she returned to New York (state, that is) to attend Vassar. She's had a scintillating career ever since, glossing over her bizarre relationship with that sleazy Italian embezzler guy, and we're incredibly psyched to see her as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

Jennifer Lopez

Jenny from the Block has always been inordinately proud of her New York roots. Born in the Bronx and raised in Castle Hill, she attended the borough's Catholic schools growing up (a common situation for many city dwellers). Not long after graduating, she scored a role as one of the Fly Girls on In Living Color and her career took off like a rocket. She moved out to Long Island to give her family a little room to stretch, but she's still a New Yorker at heart.
Alyssa Milano

Another Brooklyn girl, Alyssa Milano actually fled the borough for a suburban upbringing out on Staten Island, where she quickly realized that she was possessed of an unusual talent. At eight, she won a nationwide competition to be cast in a touring production of Annie, and it wasn't long before she scored her career-making role on Who's The Boss. After teen stardom faded, she managed to put together a solid career in movies and TV. She's also dyslexic, which is sort of hot.
Julia Stiles

Julia Stiles has the classic New York young actress story - she started early with recurring roles with a number of theater troupes before making the jump to movies in 10 Things I Hate About You. She's continued to split her attentions between the stage and the screen, as well as some sidetracks into TV - most notably a well-received part on Dexter.
Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler's early life was shrouded in mystery and controversy - born at New York's Mount Sinai, she was originally told she was the daughter of prog-pop master Todd Rundgren. The truth came out years later when Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler was named as her actual progenitor. She attended the prestigious York Preparatory School but started modeling when she was fourteen, so didn't have much of a social life.

Mariah Carey

Let's close this list with an Outer Boroughs hottie - Mariah Carey was born in Huntington, just over the border from the city. Her mother was an opera and vocal coach, which helps to explain her insanely virtuosic voice. In high school, she started working as a demo singer for local recording studios, and when her tape got to Tommy Mottola, fireworks erupted and a career was born.
