Fake tan has become a beauty staple among Hollywood actresses keen to adopt the bronzed look over recent years.
But one person staying away from the tan is Kirsten Dunst, who clearly prefers being pale and interesting.
The Melancholia actress displayed her milky white skin as she donned a black bikini for a day on the beach in Hawaii last week.

However, Kirsten looked confident with her pale complexion as she spent time with a male friend on the white sands of the beach.
Kirsten relaxed with a bottle of beer and a cigarette as she made the most of some time off from her busy schedule.
The actress, who achieved critical acclaim with her most recent offering Melancholia, will soon be seen in thriller Charm, as well as romantic drama Upside Down alongside Jim Sturgess.

But while Kirsten's career is going from strength to strength, she revealed in a recent interview that she is concerned she isn't going to find the right man to settle down with.
Kirsten, who turns 30 next year, said: 'I thought when I reached 30 I'd have a lot more figured out. Until you have a kid, you're just looking for your partner.
'And guys have a Peter Pan vibe. They're 35 and they act like they're 25. That's what scares me about being in my 30s - not finding someone to have kids with.'

The SpiderMan star, who has dated stars including Josh Hartnett and Razorlight's Johnny Borrell, added to Lucky magazine that she is excited about the thought of having children - and even living a quiet life away from Hollywood and Manhattan.
She said: 'I can't wait to re-live life in a little kid's way. I'm so ready for that lifestyle - get a little place upstate and have them go to school up there.'
And despite her reputation for partying, and a string of high profile romances as well as on-screen nude scenes, Kirsten insisted she is the opposite of what most people may expect.
Calling herself 'pretty prude', she said: 'I'm shocked by certain people's behavior. I like the idea of not living with someone and having your own places. I'm very traditional.'
